Black Players for Change Announces Launch of Hometown Heroes 2024

Columbus, OH – [April 19, 2024] – Black Players for Change, a leading organization advocating for racial equality and social justice in soccer, is thrilled to announce the launch of Hometown Heroes 2024, an annual event celebrating local community leaders, activists, and change makers. This year's Hometown Heroes event will coincide with the 2024 MLS All-Star game, taking place on July 23, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lincoln Theatre in Columbus, Ohio.

Hometown Heroes 2024 aims to honor individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing diversity, inclusion, and empowerment within their communities in and around the Columbus area. The event will showcase the remarkable contributions of these hometown heroes while inspiring others to make a positive impact.

Allen Hopkins Jr., Executive Director of Black Players for Change, expressed his excitement about the launch of Hometown Heroes 2024: "Hometown Heroes is a platform to recognize and celebrate the unsung heroes who are driving positive change in our communities and it especially means more as BPC is headquartered here. This event embodies the spirit of unity and empowerment that BPC stands for, and we are thrilled to bring it to life again alongside the 2024 MLS All-Star game."
