New Partnership with Intentionalist Empowers Local Small Businesses

February 26, 2024 – Black Players for Change (BPC), a dynamic organization dedicated to addressing racial inequalities both on and off the soccer field, is excited to announce its strategic partnership with Intentionalist, a tech-for-good social enterprise committed to supporting and showcasing local small businesses and the diverse people behind them.

In an era where intention meets action, BPC and Intentionalist are joining forces to create an electrifying collaboration that goes beyond the soccer field. The collaboration aims to leverage BPC's influence and reach within select markets to actively support and uplift local small businesses.

This groundbreaking collaboration goes beyond the ordinary; it's a dynamic resource for MLS players to authentically connect with and actively support Black-owned businesses in their local or home markets. At the core of this partnership is BPC's unyielding desire to find effective and impactful avenues for its mission of change.

"This partnership with Intentionalist aligns seamlessly with our mission at Black Players for Change. We believe in the power of intentional actions to drive positive change, and supporting local businesses is a tangible way to uplift communities. We're excited to leverage our platform and engage with our members and organization to make a meaningful impact together," said BPC Executive Director, Allen Hopkins Jr.

Intentionalist will work with BPC to create an inclusive merchant directory, featuring businesses owned by individuals from underrepresented communities. This directory will serve as a valuable resource for community members.

Social Media Campaigns
BPC and Intentionalist will collaborate on engaging social media campaigns to amplify the message of intentional spending and showcase the vibrant tapestry of local businesses in MLS markets.

"Intentionalist is proud to partner with Black Players for Change to amplify the importance of intentional spending”, said Intentionalist founder, Laura Clise. “By leveraging the influence of BPC members, we hope to encourage communities to explore, get to know, and support Black-owned businesses through everyday decisions about where we eat, drink, and shop,” added Clise.

This partnership is grounded in shared values. Both BPC and Intentionalist believe in the power of intentional actions to create meaningful change. By actively supporting local businesses, they aim to move beyond rhetoric and put actionable intention into their activism.

"We're not just talking about change; we're actively creating it. Our partnership with Intentionalist is an exciting opportunity for our members to be catalysts for positive economic impact. Together, we're taking action, making intentional choices, and building a stronger, more inclusive community. BPC is about impactful work, and this partnership aligns perfectly with our mission”,  added Allen Hopkins Jr.
